Y' wellbeing is relational

The u’Good research programme aims to advance youth wellbeing in the Global South using a relational approach.

A framework for relational wellbeing research

u’GOOD supports projects that encourage researchers to adopt and test a relational approach to wellbeing, and purposively focuses on the intersections and inflection points in young people’'s lives, such as livelihoods, mental health, digitalisation and climate change.

As a framework, relational wellbeing seeks to establish people-centred, collaborative and participatory approaches to social enquiry, helping to better understand problems and elevate innovative solutions for young people. Key in this endeavour is the urgent need to develop theories that resonate with Global South realities.

The u’GOOD community of practice

A community of practice can be defined as a community that literally shares methods and approaches – treating knowledge and learning as the relational property of individuals in context through ongoing and committed interaction with one another (see Christopher Hoadley, 2012).

The u’GOOD community of practice offers an opportunity for researchers, practitioners, policy makers and young people to build knowledge practices in the area of young people and relational wellbeing. Through a three-year long programme of mutual learning activities that includes webinars, conferences and meetings, the aim is to increase partnerships across the Global South, learning together, improvinge collaboration, strengthening technical capabilities in research, and developing capacities for change making.
