Welcome to the u’GOOD research programme
About u’GOOD
u’GOOD is a groundbreaking five-year research programme that supports research projects investigating topics affecting young people in urban and peri-urban areas in the Global South, through the lens of relational wellbeing.
The programme – which spans nine countries – is led by the National Research Foundation and Human Sciences Research Council (South Africa), and Fondation Botnar (Switzerland).
Relational wellbeing
Relational wellbeing is a concept – built on two decades of research in the Global South – that posits that life is lived as a series of shared interactions, connections and strategies that take place at interlinking levels: personal, societal and environmental.
The u’GOOD research programme has selected projects that centre this approach, and will explore people-centred, collaborative and participatory approaches to conducting research.
Research projects
The u’GOOD research programme funds 23 projects in nine countries in the Global South. These projects focus on the key thematic areas of young people and livelihoods, climate change, digitalisation and mental health.
