Dr Mariano Rojas

Mariano Rojas is a Costa Rican and Mexican economist.
He holds a PhD in Economics from Ohio State University. His work focuses on factors that explain high happiness in Latin America, and his research points to the importance of interpersonal relationships.
He is the author of more than 140 academic works and three books: The Scientific Study of Happiness, Can the Economy Give Happiness? and Well-being in Latin America: Drivers and Policies.
He is the editor of 11 books, among them The Economics of Happiness (Springer) and the Handbook of Happiness Research in Latin America.
He was president of the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies and coordinated the Measuring the Progress of Societies initiative, which had a Latin American perspective.
He has been a professor at universities in Costa Rica, the United States, Mexico, China, Spain and the Netherlands, and is currently affiliated with the Tecnológico Nacional de México.
